Creating with the Creator
As children, we often have big aspirations for the person we will become when we grow up. We just know we are going to do something important or create something special, and that becomes our purpose for being here. As we move into adulthood, some of us follow those childhood dreams and stay on course until we make it to the finish line, while others veer off course. Perhaps those of us in the latter group are waiting for the right time to begin, or we do begin, but something more important comes up and derails us, and so on.
In the end, these are just excuses. We all know people with far more challenging circumstances who have found ways to follow their passions and fulfill their dreams. The real reason many of us don’t do it is because we do not believe we can. We do not trust that we are smart enough, talented enough, resourceful enough, or whatever it is that we believe we are lacking. Instead, we listen to the little voice inside that tells us how difficult it will be, and how many before have tried and failed. And the dream quietly slips further and further into the background as the years go by.
The thing is, no matter how far we push the dream out of sight, it never disappears completely. It is still within us and the desire to fulfill it will resurface from time to time. Why? Because God placed it there and His intention is for us to bring it to completion. It was there from the moment He breathed life into us, and it will still be there when we die if we have not yet accomplished it.“When we are creating with God, we don’t panic every time we have a setback because we know He already has a solution worked out.”
This is because God is a creator, and He created us in His image so that He could create through us. He is creating through us all of the time. He is the Divine Intelligence that plants the seeds of inspiration in our hearts along with the ability to bring them to fruition. Everything that has ever materialized on this planet originated from God: beautiful art, music, and literature, architecture and fashion design, technological advances, scientific discoveries…. anything that can be imagined. As Neville Goddard tells us, “God exists in our wonderful imagination”. And when we align our mind with His, anything and everything is possible.
When inspiration comes to us we feel our passion come alive as the dream awakens. A new creation is waiting to be born. We are so excited, we can’t wait to begin. We start writing the novel, working on the design, rehearsing for the audition, etc. Yes! We can see it all coming together now.
But the minute we hit a bump in the road, or when things don’t happen as quickly as we would like, fear takes over. Our budding creation suddenly looks like a huge mountain before us and we have no idea how to climb it. We decide that it is too big for us and we let it slip away.
Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will. ~ George Bernard Shaw
The truth is, we are partially right…our creation is too big for us. But we were never meant to accomplish it alone; we were meant to work on it with God. He chose it especially for us because it contains lessons we need to grow. His intention is to guide us through each challenge and teach us what we need to learn in the process. Giving up on our creation is giving up on God. Trusting and believing that it will happen is creating with the Creator.
When we create with God, we don’t panic every time we have a setback because we know He already has a solution worked out. We know that there is no mistake He cannot correct, no predicament He cannot get us out of, and no matter how badly we mess things up, He can quickly put us back on track. If we allow His inspiration to guide us, our dreams will soon flourish and bear fruit as we cultivate and nurture them. Our hearts will sing with joy because we will be fully aligned with our passion and purpose. And our creations, whatever they may be, will arrive with Divine perfection at exactly the right time, elevating the world in some way.
